The Persuader Deluxe

The Persuader Deluxe utilizes a Darlington preamp to push cascaded triode vacuum tubes into distortion. Four dual triode vacuum tubes are included with each kit (JJ 5751, 12AX7B China, JJ 12AU7 and a NOS USA made 12AT7). Swap to create a wide range of tones from just a hint of break up from the JJ 5751 to over the top crunchy distortion using the NOS US made 12AT7. A boost switch provides an additional layer of flexibility with added gain and a little extra bottom end. An LED indicator lights up when the Persuader Deluxe is engaged and not in true bypass mode.

We currently do not sell The Persuader Deluxe without the additional tubes, however The original Persuader offers similar functionality with only a single tube included.
Would you consider making a larger version of this with 2 or more sockets in it that we could switch between? Each tube sounds so different and it would be great to just switch between them.

This has an interesting transistor Fuzzface type of overdrive. Can you suggest a different/less clipping transistor, or a way to make it sound more like a subtle tube overdrive sound?

Can I substitute pots? The boost toggle switch won't fit in the hole with the existing 1k pot.

Give us a shout at info@modkitsdiy.com. If the pot and switch aren't properly fitting in the enclosure we'll get a new enclosure sent your way.

I had the same problem. I drilled a new mounting hole on the opposite side of the footswitch from the LED indicator. I do like having the toggle on top of the enclosure rather than the end. Just needed to use longer wire to connect the toggle to terminals 10 & 11. Really like this pedal! Wes Lambert Billings, MT

Would like to know this also.
Can you verify that the #6 star washers are meant to be placed on the inside of the enclosure between the enclosure and the foot of the terminal strip so that it tries to make an electrical connection to the AL?

They are meant to sit directly beneath the nut on top of the terminal strip's mounting bracket.

There can be some variation due to the tube used but it is roughly 130mA. When initially powering the unit, the current will briefly spike. This can be greater than 400mA.
