Do
you recommend the product called a "yellow jacket" that installs
in the tube base, allowing for interchanging of the tubes??

The THD Yellow Jacket (Antique Electronic Supply part # P-SAYJ) is the one to use for this amp. It allows you to plug EL84's into amps designed for 6L6GC's or EL34's. (There is enough room under the cage to fit the combined overall height of the EL84's and Yellow Jackets).
